The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), says it has so far impounded over 195 vehicles and arrested over 187 suspected oil thieves in 2020.
Mukhtar Lawal, State Commandant of the Corps disclosed this in a chat with news correspondents in Port Harcourt yesterday.
He noted that the operations of the command yielded result in the year under review as they recorded over 98 convictions.
”The command in the year under review recorded 98 convictions in cases relating to illegal dealings in petroleum products, vandalism of petroleum pipelines, telecommunications facilities, PHCN facilities among others,” he said.
“The Command has secured the forfeiture of a tug boat, 10 trucks/vehicles for the Federal Government while 74 cases are currently going on with 48 suspects facing trials in Federal High Court, Port Harcourt,” he added.
