Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, says the company is facing attacks from individuals opposed to its ongoing transformation agenda.
Ojulari made the disclosure on Thursday while receiving a delegation from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) at the NNPC Towers in Abuja.
According to him, the reforms being implemented by the management come with challenges, but the company will not bow to pressure or sabotage.
“We are under attack. We will not budge to short-term pressure, as it will not be in the best interest of Nigerians. You cannot drive change without a price, and the transformation is tough,” Ojulari stated.
He called for patience from Nigerians, stressing that the reforms are geared towards long-term national benefits. He also reiterated his commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate, assuring that the management would remain focused.
The NNPC boss noted that since his assumption of office about five months ago, his team has prioritised the rehabilitation of the nation’s refineries through the Incorporated Joint Venture (IJV) model, with emphasis on sustainable operations rather than quick fixes.
Earlier, PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, commended the management for its partnership during the recently held 2025 PENGASSAN Energy and Labour Summit (PEALS) in Abuja.
Osifo also praised the milestones recorded under Ojulari’s leadership, including improved pipeline performance, a reduction in crude oil theft, and increased production.
“As PENGASSAN, we assure you that we are solidly behind you. We will work with you and collaborate with your team to ensure the stability of the system for the benefit of all Nigerians,” Osifo said.
