Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Hon. Barr George Ariolu DSSRS, has assured that he will continue to remain focused in the provision of infrastructures and social amenities for safe, secure, environmental friendly and sustainable economic development of the area.

Ariolu made the commitment today, while inspecting ongoing projects undertaken by his administration in parts of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Projects inspected includes the Oginigba Ultramodern Market and the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Rumuagholu… all in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

According to the Chairman, the Oginigba Ultramodern Market consists of Ninety Eight (98) open stalls and Forty (40) lock up stores. He explained that it was necessary to build a market for the women, since the popular Oginigba Slaughter market was relocated to Mgbuoshimini, in order to boost economic activities in the area.

He also inspected the office of the Commander, Nigeria Police Force Counter Terrorism Unit, built by his administration as part of his contributions to the security agencies in the Local Government Area.

Speaking further, Ariolu stated that the local government is an independent tier of Government, and that he was elected into office to serve the people. He said that despite the challenges and interferences from the state government, he will continue to ensure that he fulfills his promise to the people.

Ariolu who was accompanied by his Vice Chairman, Chief of Staff, Chief Protocol, Supervisors and members of the Press, assured that he will continue to utilise Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to further boost development and grow the economy in the area.
