The Federal Government says Nigeria and Cameroon have agreed that water from the Lagdo Dam be released at intervals to allow the Rivers Benue and Niger contain the volume of water to avoid flooding in some states.
Umar Mohammed – Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to him, water from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon was released yesterday into River Niger and River Benue. He also warned Nigerians in flood-prone areas to relocate immediately to safe spaces.
