The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily suspended access to its online result-checking portal, causing concern among candidates awaiting the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
The examination body announced the shutdown on Thursday, citing routine technical maintenance as the reason for the disruption. WAEC assured candidates that efforts are ongoing to restore the portal and that normal service would resume soon.
In an official statement, WAEC said, “The result-checking platform is currently undergoing routine maintenance. Normal access will resume shortly. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.”
The development comes shortly after the council concluded the marking and collation of examination scripts. WAEC had earlier promised to release the results within 45 days of the examination’s conclusion.
However, the temporary inaccessibility of the result-checking portal has raised concerns about a possible delay, with many candidates expressing frustration online.
WAEC has not given a definite timeline for when the portal will be fully restored.
