The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of results for the 2026 first series of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates, recording a slight improvement in overall performance.
In a statement issued on Friday from its Yaba headquarters, WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola F. Adesina, disclosed that the examination was conducted across 166 centres nationwide between January 28 and February 14.
A total of 10,480 candidates participated in the exam, out of which 3,429 candidates, representing 32.72 percent, obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
The council also noted that 43 candidates with special needs took part in the examination, with necessary support provided for 11 visually impaired candidates, four with hearing impairments, and four albinos.
According to WAEC, 8,418 candidates, accounting for 80.32 percent, have had their results fully processed, while 2,062 candidates still have some subjects pending due to errors linked to the candidates.
However, the results of 75 candidates, representing 0.72 percent of the total number, have been withheld over allegations of examination malpractice.
Candidates have been advised to check their results via the council’s official portal, where digital copies of their certificates are also available.
