The country’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Voter Registration exercise will kick-start in the first quarter of next year. This according to them is in preparation of the 2023 general elections.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this while appearing before the Senate Committee on INEC today November 4 2020.
Mahmood, during the meeting called for the amendment of the electoral act and the approval of diaspora voting.
He furthermore noted that the sum of N1 billion has been set aside for the exercise next year.
