Veteran journalist Reuben Abati has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing him as “rude and disrespectful” following Wike’s recent comments about former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Abati noted that Amaechi had once served as Wike’s political benefactor and superior, and expressed dismay at what he termed Wike’s consistent pattern of insulting prominent figures. He cited instances of Wike allegedly disparaging elder statesman Peter Odili, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Olabode George, and his former political mentor, Senator John Mbata.

“Who will Nyesom Wike not insult?” Abati asked, suggesting that Wike’s conduct may extend even to President Bola Tinubu in the future.

Wike had during a media chat on Monday, berated Amaechi following the latter’s comment that he was hungry due to hardship caused by the poor leadership of the current administration.
