Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, on Monday led a symbolic protest to the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the ongoing teachers’ strike in Abuja.
The protest comes as primary school teachers in the FCT continue their industrial action, which began on March 24, 2025—over 90 days ago. The strike stems from the failure of Area Council Chairmen to implement the N70,000 new national minimum wage.
In a dramatic show of protest, VeryDarkMan assembled a group of schoolchildren dressed in uniforms outside the minister’s gate, where he conducted an impromptu class, teaching them the alphabet to highlight the impact of the strike on children’s education.
