Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has dismissed Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s declaration to contest the 2027 presidential election, saying Obi is unlikely to be on the ballot as a vice presidential candidate, let alone as president.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Bwala claimed Obi would end up serving as Director-General of another presidential campaign rather than being a major contender himself. According to him, Obi’s real target may be the 2031 presidency.
“He’s not even going to be vice president. He’s going to be DG of the campaign with the hopes that he will be president in 2031,” Bwala said.
He also faulted Obi’s recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s alleged lack of empathy for Nigerians, stating that empathy is not reserved for those in office.
“You don’t have to be president to show empathy” Bwala stated, adding that social media personality VeryDarkMan has shown more empathy than Obi, despite holding no political office.
