- Pledges Commitment to Workers’ Welfare
The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Hon. Uzodinma Nwafor, PhD, has approved the payment of four months outstanding promotions for workers in the area.
The chairman announced the approval during a meeting with management and staff of the council on Monday in Okehi.
Dr. Nwafor directed the council’s Treasurer to implement the outstanding promotion arrears beginning this month.
The chairman assured of his determination to make the welfare of workers a significant priority of his administration.
Uzodinma Nwafor pledged his commitment to prioritizing workers welfare and engaging with them regularly to ensure the development of the area.
He promised to build a befitting canteen for the workers to be cited at the local government council secretariat.
Nwafor encouraged workers to take their jobs seriously, for the overall benefits of the people of the local government.
Earlier, Head of Local Government Administration, HLGA in Etche, Mr. Ernest Digine officially welcomed the chairman to the council and assured him of workers commitment and collaboration.
In her remarks, Chairperson of National Union of Local Government Employees NULGE, Etche chapter, Florence Nwala, expressed happiness for the interventions of the chairman in the welfare of council workers in barely few weeks of his administration.
Mrs. Nwala noted with satisfaction Dr. Nwafor’s honesty and optimism in addressing matters arising from economic hardship as they affect workers in the area.
She, however, expressed confident that improved welfare promised by the chairman will be realised within a short time.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Hon. Benard Nwuzi, Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Jude Njoku, Members of Etche Legislative Assembly and other appointees of the Council.
