The Rivers state chapter of Nigeria Union of pensioners, has urged Governor, Nyesom Wike to use part of the 78 Billion Naira federal government refund to pay pensioners their arrears, gratuities and death benefits.

State Chairman of the union, Collins Nwankwo made this known in a statement over the weekend.

He said many pensioners have lost their lives in the state, due to their inability to access their gratuities.

Nwankwo also lamented the torturous exercise retirees go through to get their gratuities, due to the civil service rules.

He noted that pensioners in the state have not received their initial pension allowances or gratuities since Wike emerged governor.
