The American Government has said that Nigeria is known for violent crimes such as armed robbery, assault, banditry, kidnapping, rape and other forms of crime.
The US consulate made this known in a statement on the website of its Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs Today, while warning its citizens to be careful and not to travel to some states in the country with high rates of crime and criminality.
They cited terrorism, kidnapping, civil unrest and maritime crime as some of the challenges facing these states regarded as flash points for crime.
These states includes Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, and the coastal areas of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, and Rivers states.
