The United States government has issued a security advisory warning its citizens in Nigeria of a potential terrorist threat targeting US facilities and schools associated with the country.
In a notice released on Monday, March 9, the US urged Americans residing in Nigeria to remain vigilant and adopt precautionary measures.
“The US embassy in Abuja informs US citizens of a possible terrorist threat against US facilities and US-affiliated schools in Nigeria,” the advisory stated.
The embassy also recommended that Americans enhance personal security awareness, avoid predictable routines, and review safety plans with family members to minimize potential risks.
The alert did not provide details on the source of the threat or identify any group suspected of involvement.
The warning comes amid rising global tensions following recent US military actions, including security concerns related to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. It also follows Christmas Day military strikes against jihadist groups in northern Nigeria amid discussions on alleged attacks against Christian communities.
