The Trump administration is reportedly considering a major expansion of its travel ban to include citizens from an additional 36 countries, according to a State Department memo obtained by The Washington Post.
The proposed list includes 25 African nations—among them key U.S. partners like Egypt and Djibouti—as well as countries in the Caribbean, Central Asia, and several Pacific Island states. If approved, the move would significantly widen the scope of the travel restrictions first introduced earlier this month.
According to The Washington Post, a spokesperson for the State Department declined to comment on what they described as internal deliberations. The White House has not issued a response.
The potential expansion signals a further tightening of immigration policies under President Donald Trump, continuing a pattern of increasingly restrictive measures on foreign nationals.
