Some female students of the University of Port Harcourt that were accused by a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics of assault, says he was beaten up after he sexually assaulted a female student in her room.
A female student, who resides at Aluu had yesterday, accused the lecturer of coming to her room to sexually assault her.
But, in a swift reaction, the lecturer debunked the claims in a letter of complaint to the management of the school, wherein he accused the student of physical assault.
However, Management of the school in a press release yesterday, confirmed that it received a complaint of assault from a lecturer against a female student which is currently being investigated by the appropriate authorities.
The school also urged, “members of the public to remain calm as the institution will spare no effort to deal decisively with any one found culpable in line with the policy document on sexual harassment of the University which is made available to all staff and students.
Furthermore, it disclosed that findings of the school would be made public in no distant time.
