The University of Port Harcourt has unveiled a state-of-the-art Arts Theatre to enhance the training of students in theatre and film studies.
The 350-capacity facility, built through the TETFund 2023 Annual Intervention Project, was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Abraham Georgewill, for the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, Faculty of Humanities.
The new theatre features a box office, lighting booth, green room, costume room, workshop, and offices, making it a comprehensive hub for academic and creative activities.
Prof. Georgewill described the project as a milestone that would promote excellence, creativity, and innovation in the arts. He said the theatre will serve as a practical space for examinations, play productions, and other academic performances, providing students with hands-on professional training.
