Two students from the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort) have emerged winners of the national Distinction AI Quizathon, a competition designed to promote artificial intelligence awareness across Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Ukwunnah Chinemerem from the Department of Geography and Environmental Management and Agarry Promise from the Department of Mechanical Engineering represented UniPort at the event and secured first place among participants from across the country.
The university’s ICTC-Web Services Team announced the win on its official Facebook page, describing the students’ performance as a demonstration of “brilliance and innovation” that once again puts UniPort on Nigeria’s academic excellence map.
Organised by FlexiSAF, the AI Quizathon challenges undergraduates to demonstrate knowledge, critical thinking, and innovation in AI and tech-related fields.
This victory underscores UniPort’s growing influence in Nigeria’s technology and innovation space, as well as its commitment to academic excellence.
