The University of Port Harcourt has commissioned the “Window to China” project, a cultural and research facility built by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and commissioned by the Chinese Consulate.
The event, held at the university campus, was compered by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, who described the ceremony as a deeply memorable and historic moment.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Vice Chancellor of UniPort, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, hailed the facility as more than just infrastructure, but “a living hub for research, dialogue, and cultural exchange.”
According to him, the project reflects a new vision of globalization — one rooted in reciprocity rather than dependency — and will serve as a platform for staff and students to engage in learning, innovation, and international collaboration.
The “Window to China” is expected to strengthen academic and cultural ties between Nigeria and China, while offering the UniPort community new opportunities for cross-cultural engagement.
