The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has won the Innovation Award for Climate-Smart Agriculture Partnerships, in collaboration with Microbiotech Ltd. (UK) and UNESP (Brazil).
UNIPORT spokesperson, Sammy Kpenu, announced the achievement in a statement, noting that the three-country initiative is funded by the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) through Innovate UK.
The project focuses on converting agro-industry by-products into mushroom substrates and soil enhancers, aimed at boosting sustainability within tropical circular economies.
The university congratulated Prof. Olutayo M. Adedokun, the Lead Partner for Africa, for spearheading the award-winning effort.
