The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has warned against the indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty trucks on highways.
Speaking during an inspection of key projects in Rivers State on Saturday, Umahi frowned at the act noting that it could damage the infrastructure which costs billions of naira.
According to him no road is built for static stationary Heavy-Duty trucks.
“No road is designed for stationary heavy-duty vehicles. They will destroy the roads,” he said, urging Nigerians to protect public infrastructure.
He emphasized that the project, valued at over ₦230 billion, represents a major national investment and called on citizens to take responsibility for preserving it.
He praised the construction firm handling various projects in the state and expressed satisfaction with the progress of work.
Umahi disclosed that most of the projects are expected to be completed in phases, with the first phase likely ready by August.
