Two suspected vandals have been arrested for allegedly damaging a newly installed electricity transformer in Ndashi community, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The suspects were reportedly caught by vigilant youths of the community while attempting to vandalise the facility and were immediately handed over to the Okehi Police Division for investigation. Police authorities confirmed that the suspects are already making useful statements and that the tools recovered from the scene have been taken into custody.
Reacting to the incident, the Executive Chairman of Etche LGA, Chief Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku, urged all communities in the area to safeguard government infrastructure, particularly the new transformers installed across the council.
He praised the Ndashi youths for their swift action and vigilance in protecting public property.
