The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, has sentenced two Lebanese, Dina Jihad Khali, and Chamseddine Mohammed to two years in prison for money laundering with an option of fine of One Million Naira each.
Justice I. M. Sani gave the ruling on Thursday after the trial of the two men who had pleaded guilty to the charge.
They were both charged on a one-count charge of money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The two convicts were arrested for attempting to smuggle a total sum of $890,000 USD out of Nigeria, through the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
