The All Progressives Congress, has reacted to the ban on micro-blogging platform, Twitter by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
The party in a statement by its National Secretary, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe said the decision was borne out of ‘national interest.’
He said as a democratic and independent nation, citizens should defend the country’s sovereignty by supporting the ban.
Akpanudoedehe noted that the decision is a challenge to the nation’s vibrant youths with such potentials and talents to develop alternative and competitive applications to existing platforms in the world.
He further explained that the announcement by the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami that Nigeria will soon start the production of SIM cards shows that the nation has what it takes to excel in the global ICT industry.
