President Donald Trump has dismissed National Security Adviser Michael Waltz following the inadvertent leak of classified military information related to planned strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Waltz was reportedly removed after he mistakenly added Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg to a secure Signal group chat that included 17 senior officials. The group was discussing highly sensitive details of an upcoming military operation.
Goldberg later published the chat’s full contents, sparking public outrage and heavy media scrutiny. The incident, quickly dubbed “Signalgate,” marks the first cabinet-level firing of Trump’s second term, as confirmed by the Daily Mail.
