United States President, Donald Trump, has reacted to the deadly bomb attacks in Maiduguri, describing Nigeria’s security situation as a “total disaster.”
Trump made the remarks while responding to reports of coordinated explosions that rocked Maiduguri, leaving at least 23 people dead and over 100 others injured.
The attacks, which occurred on Monday, targeted multiple crowded locations, including a market area, a hospital vicinity, and a post office, triggering panic across the city.
In his reaction, Trump condemned the scale of the violence, characterising the incident as a “massive, coordinated attack,” and expressed concern over the rising insecurity in Nigeria.
He also criticised the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to immediately return to the country from his ongoing trip to the United Kingdom to address the situation firsthand.
“Go home immediately,” Trump reportedly stated, stressing that the Nigerian government must take stronger action to tackle terrorism and protect citizens.
Meanwhile, authorities in Borno State have confirmed ongoing investigations into the attacks, with security agencies intensifying efforts to prevent further incidents.
