U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday night announced that the United States had carried out a “very successful” airstrike targeting three nuclear facilities in Iran.
In a post on his Truth Social platform Trump said the strikes targeted the Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear sites. “All planes are now outside of Iran air space,” he stated.
Trump revealed that a “full payload of bombs” was dropped on the Fordow facility, which he described as the primary target of the operation. He added that all U.S. aircraft involved in the mission were returning safely.
“Congratulations to our great American warriors. There is not another military in the world that could have done this,” he wrote, concluding his statement with a call for peace: “Now is the time for peace!”
Meanwhile, the Iranian government said the facilities were evacuated before the strikes.
