Troops of the Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation Delta Safe (JTF-SS-OPDS), have discovered an illegal crude oil storage and bunkering facility in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Security sources revealed that the operation, carried out around 9:00 a.m. on March 30, was led by personnel of the 5 Battalion in collaboration with the 103 Battalion as part of efforts to curb oil theft in the region.
During the raid at the Okarki Forest, troops reportedly recovered approximately 10,000 litres of stolen crude oil stored in drums and reservoirs.
The sources further disclosed that three small drums, three drum receivers, three coolant containers, and a large storage reservoir were found at the site.
Additional items recovered include two galvanised pipes measuring approximately 15 metres each, five hoses estimated at 50 metres in length, and three sacks containing suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), approximately 125 litres.
