The Federal Government has directed all hospitals in Nigeria to treat gunshot victims without Police report.
Patricia Deworitshe, Director of Information, Ministry of Health and Social Welfare made this known in a statement.
According to her, no hospital has the right to deny anyone treatment.
“Gunshot injuries are emergencies! No hospital has the right to deny treatment. Refusing to help these victims has cost many lives,” She said.
The statement also called on the Nigerian police to enforce the Act and protect hospitals treating such cases. Plans are underway to ensure compliance nationwide.
The message is clear: Save lives first, paperwork can wait!
