Horror struck Amaji Village, Umuoyoro community, Omuma Local Government Area, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, when a man identified as Mr. Alachi allegedly killed his wife, a mother of two, on their family farm.
Sources from the community told our reporter that a minor argument erupted between the couple while working on the farm. Eyewitnesses say the dispute escalated, and Mr. Alachi reportedly used a kitchen knife to slit his wife’s throat.
Villagers rushed to the scene after hearing her screams and successfully overpowered the suspect, preventing further harm. The incident left the community in shock and mourning.
Mr. Alachi was handed over to the Eberi Police Division under the Oyigbo Area Command. Security sources disclosed that the suspect told investigators he did not know what drove him to commit the act.
The Rivers State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the arrest and is overseeing ongoing investigation.
