Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, once visited him privately to deny his political ally, Rotimi Amaechi, and sought his support against Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Supreme Court.
Wike, who spoke on Thursday, said Cole approached him during his disagreement with Fubara, pleading that he back him in the legal battle. According to Wike, Cole’s move exposed his lack of consistency and integrity.
“I heard one pastor Tonye Cole was talking about me. He does not have character. He does not have what it takes to run against me. We are not on the same level in politics. He will continue to be confused. I would have put him in prison because he stole from Rivers State,” Wike said.
The minister added that Cole, despite describing himself as a pastor, thought he could secure his support by exploiting political tensions.
Cole has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
