Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government, Edison Ehie has alleged that a member of President Tinubu’s cabinet who is from Rivers State is planning to contest the 2027 presidential election against him.

Ehie made the allegation during an empowerment programme in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area on Saturday.

According to him, the said individual has been holding secret meetings with his cronies to that effect.

He said, “My dear Port Harcourt people, Mr president is interested in ensuring that Nigeria develops, the governor is working in-hand with Mr president to ensure that Rivers develop, and we enjoy a peaceful relationship between the centre and the grassroots.

“We are aware that some persons in the cabinet of Mr president are doing everything possible to hijack the state due to the meetings they have been having to contest against Mr president in 2027.

“The governor has continued to emphasize that Rivers State is for Mr President, so any Rivers son that wants to challenge Mr president should wait till after 2031. The president’s 4+4 is settled, Fubara’s 4+4 is also settled.”
