Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will finish third in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, El-Rufai, now a leader in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, said his calculations show the president has no clear route to victory on the first ballot.
“Tinubu will be third in the 2027 election. I have done my maths and I can tell you Tinubu has no pathway to win. The worst-case scenario is that there will not be any winner in the first ballot,” he said.
El-Rufai urged Nigerians to assess the government based on their personal welfare, asking, “Is your life better now under President Tinubu?” He accused the administration of showing “no pretense of good intentions” and insisted that performance can be evaluated within weeks of assuming office.
The former governor also ruled out any interest in ministerial appointments, noting that he had already served as a minister at the age of 23 and sees no reason to return to such a role.
