President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to rally behind the nation’s armed forces, describing their service as a noble sacrifice essential to preserving Nigeria’s sovereignty and security.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) Conference in Abuja, the president commended the military and other security agencies for their relentless commitment to protecting citizens despite facing numerous challenges.
“The military and other security agencies are working tirelessly and making significant sacrifices to keep Nigerians safe,” Tinubu said. “They put their lives on the line to defend the sovereignty of this country. It is our responsibility to support and inspire them.”
While acknowledging persistent security issues such as terrorism and banditry, Tinubu emphasized that national unity and encouragement are crucial to sustaining the morale and success of the armed forces.
“Yes, we are challenged by terrorism and banditry, and we recognise that,” he noted. “But the question remains — are we inspiring our armed forces? Are we giving them the encouragement they need to fight?”
