President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to undertake a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom from March 18 to 19, 2026, at the invitation of King Charles III, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
The trip represents the first Nigerian state visit to the UK in 37 years. The previous visit took place in 1989, when the then-military ruler, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, met with Queen Elizabeth II.
Tinubu will be accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and will be received by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.
The visit is expected to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Discussions between the two sides are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including trade, investment, and broader strategic partnerships.
The Nigerian leader previously met King Charles in November 2023 ahead of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, highlighting ongoing high-level engagement between the two nations.
