President Bola Tinubu has approved a significant reduction in the cost of kidney dialysis sessions in federal hospitals, slashing the fee from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000.
The president’s spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, announced the development on Monday in a post on his X handle. He said the initiative will take off in ten public hospitals before being extended to federal medical centres and teaching hospitals across the country.
Bwala noted that the policy is aimed at easing the financial burden on thousands of Nigerians living with kidney-related diseases, many of whom struggle to afford treatment.
He added that more federal facilities will be included before the end of the year to expand access nationwide.
