ABUJA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reconstituted the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited board, removing Chairman Chief Pius Akinyelure, Group CEO Mallam Mele Kyari, and other board members appointed in November 2023.
The newly appointed 11-member board includes Ahmadu Musa Kida as Chairman and Bashir Bayo Ojulari as Group CEO. Adedapo Segun retains his role as Chief Financial Officer, while six non-executive directors represent Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. Representatives from the Ministries of Finance and Petroleum Resources also join the board.
Citing the Petroleum Industry Act, Tinubu emphasized that the restructuring aims to enhance efficiency, attract investment, and boost local content. He tasked the new board with reviewing NNPC’s assets and maximizing value in joint ventures.
The President acknowledged the outgoing board’s contributions, particularly in reviving the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries, and wished them success in their future endeavors.
