Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rewarded Rivers State with key federal appointments despite the absence of any formal agreement before the 2023 general elections.
Speaking during a visit to Degema Local Government Area, Wike said the decision to support Tinubu was a difficult but necessary political choice taken without certainty of the outcome.
“We supported him without knowing where it would lead. In 2023, it was difficult to take a decision, but it was worse not to take any decision at all. God guided us, and today we are grateful,” Wike said.
He described President Tinubu as a trustworthy leader, noting that no previous president had accorded Rivers State such recognition in terms of federal appointments and inclusion.
The former governor said the Tinubu administration had positively impacted Rivers State through appointments and opportunities that had strengthened human capital development.
“If we begin to list everything Mr President has done for Rivers State, it may generate envy. We are particularly thankful for the recent appointments of our sons, Senator Magnus Abe and Kenneth Kobani,” he added.
Wike declared that his political camp had resolved to maintain its support for President Tinubu in future elections, insisting that loyalty must be reciprocated with loyalty.
He also pledged continued support for Degema Local Government Area, assuring residents that previous shortcomings would be corrected.
