President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youth and strengthening national security.
Speaking during his Independence Day broadcast, Tinubu described young Nigerians as the country’s “greatest assets” and urged them to keep dreaming big and innovating. He noted that student loan initiatives under the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) had benefited over 510,000 students across 228 tertiary institutions, with disbursements reaching ₦99.5 billion.
The President also highlighted other youth-focused initiatives, including Credicorp loans worth ₦30 billion, consumer credit schemes for NYSC members under YouthCred, and the iDICE programme, which will support technology and creative industries in partnership with international financiers.
On security, Tinubu praised the military for making gains against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, noting that peace had returned to many communities in the North-East and North-West.
He assured Nigerians that sacrifices made today would secure a better tomorrow, urging collective action to build a productive, self-reliant nation.
