Former APC chieftain, Timi Frank, has raised concerns over an alleged plan by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to relocate Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if re-elected in 2027.
Frank, according to reports, described the alleged move as part of a “Lagos-centric agenda,” accusing the current administration of focusing political and economic influence on Lagos.
He also pointed to what he believes are patterns in government appointments and infrastructure projects that appear to favor Lagos, warning that such developments could heighten national divisions.
Despite the claims, there has been no official statement from the Presidency or any policy indication suggesting plans to move the nation’s capital, which has been based in Abuja since 1991.
Observers maintain that the claim remains unsubstantiated, noting that no formal proposal or legislative action has been introduced to support such a significant move.
