President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a directive for the swift completion of the Kaa-Ataba Bridge, a key infrastructure project connecting the Ogoni axis of Rivers State to the coastal Andoni Local Government Area.
The order was disclosed on Thursday, August 7, 2025, by the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, during an inspection visit to the project site shortly after his arrival in Port Harcourt.
Momoh urged contractors handling the project to expedite work and adhere strictly to the completion timeline. It remains unclear if the presidency considered the region’s prolonged rainy season, which typically affects construction pace.
The Kaa-Ataba Bridge is regarded as a vital socio-economic link between the Ogoni and Andoni communities. Previously awarded twice without completion, the project is now being executed under a renewed contract by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in partnership with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) company.
Officials say funding for the project is secured, following President Tinubu’s approval of a ₦1 trillion allocation to support the NDDC’s 2025 budget, aimed at completing critical and long-abandoned infrastructure across the Niger Delta.
