President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a seven-day national mourning period in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday.
In a condolence message released the same day, Tinubu directed that all national flags across the country be flown at half-mast for seven days, beginning Sunday, as a mark of respect for the late leader.
“I have directed that all national flags fly at half-staff across the country for seven days from today,” the President stated.
He also announced that an emergency session of the Federal Executive Council will be held on Tuesday, specifically to honour the memory and legacy of the former president.
