Bola Tinubu has congratulated the winners of Saturday’s elections held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the states of Kano and Rivers.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections across the six area councils of the FCT, alongside by-elections in the Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the President urged the victorious candidates to serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication, describing the mandate given to them by the electorate as a sacred trust.
Tinubu also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the territory, noting that the strides recorded had translated into political gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He congratulated the APC’s national leadership, as well as the party’s structures in Kano and Rivers States, and its members for their victories at the polls.
The President further praised INEC, security agencies, and voters for ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections. He commended the courage and discipline exhibited by all contestants, stating that democracy is strengthened by active participation and healthy competition.
Tinubu affirmed that the smooth conduct of the elections reinforces Nigeria’s democratic culture and institutions and called on INEC to sustain and improve its efforts toward delivering even more credible and exemplary electoral processes.
