President Bola Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent who featured for the Seattle Seahawks following the team’s victory at Super Bowl 60 held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
According to a State House press release issued on February 10, 2026, the Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13 to secure their second Lombardi Trophy.
The President praised the contributions of Nigerian-descended players on the Seahawks roster, including quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe, defensive standout Nick Emmanwori, linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, linebacker Boye Maye, and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi, noting their roles in the championship win.
He also extended congratulations to Michael Onwenu of the New England Patriots, describing him as one of the most dominant offensive linemen, despite his team finishing as runners-up.
President Tinubu commended the athletes for bringing pride and honour to Nigeria through their achievements, with special mention of Emmanwori, Nwosu, and Maye for displaying the Nigerian flag during the victory celebrations.
The President said their accomplishments reinforce Nigeria’s global reputation for excellence and talent, and wished them continued success in their professional careers.
