President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Pro-Chancellor, members of the Governing Council, and principal officers for the newly established Federal University of Environment and Technology, Koroma/Saakpenwa in Ogoniland, Rivers State.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Professor Don Mon Baridam, a Management expert with a focus on Organisational Behaviour and former lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, has been named Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council. Professor Chinedu Mmom, also from the University of Port Harcourt and a former Rivers State Commissioner for Education, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor.
Other members of the Governing Council include Emmanuel Onoja (North Central), Hamid Adekunle (South West), Prof. Chima Oji (South East), and Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Lamda (North West), reflecting regional diversity.
President Tinubu also approved the appointments of Dr. Mpigi Monday Douglas (Registrar), Zoryii Josco Nwaimanie (Bursar), and Dr. Saghanen Ntogo G. B. (Librarian).
The university, established by law on February 3, 2025, is expected to commence academic activities with its first set of students in September 2025.
