The Omerelu residence of a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and candidate for the Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency, Hon. Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi was attacked by yet to be identified thugs on Saturday morning.
The attempt to set the building ablaze was foiled by the community youths who quickly rushed to the scene and chased the thugs away. One of the suspects was apprehended and has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
Speaking to newsmen few hours after the attack on the scene, Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi said he was notified of the incident by his brother and immediately informed the police about it. He disclosed that some of his friends and people around his compound were injured but no life was lost.
“I thank God that no life was lost, most importantly no life was lost but a couple of our friends were injured,” he said.
He thanked members of his family and the community youths who prevented the thugs from causing more damage. He called on the police to carry out their investigations properly and bring the perpetrators to book.
He reiterated that he and his team are not deterred by the attack and described it as a waste of time and effort.
“Nothing will deter us from getting to our goals to the promised land,” he said.
Some doors, windows and chairs were parts of the properties destroyed during the attack. As at the time of filing this report, the police are yet to say anything about this.
