A helicopter flying from Port Harcourt to an oil rig, this morning crashed into the Atlantic Ocean in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo confirmed the incident in a statement on X.
According to him, the accident occurred at approximately 11:22 am on Thursday along the waterways near Bonny Finima in the Atlantic Ocean, while the helicopter was en route from Port Harcourt Military Base to the NUIMANTAN oil rig.
He said the aircraft had eight people on board and that three bodies have been recovered as operations are still underway to locate the five remaining passengers.
