The Rivers State Government, has warned the Federal Inland Revenue Services, FIRS, to desist from sabotaging or undermining its authority to freely administer tax and other related laws in the state.
Governor Wike, who made this known in a state wide broadcast on Monday, said the state will not tolerate any further attempt by the agency.
He said all corporate bodies and entities are to comply with their tax obligations to avoid sanctions which includes having their premises sealed.
Wike, explained that with the dismissal of ‘stay of execution’ filed by the FIRS, by a Federal High Court in the state, the way is now clear for the enforcement of the tax law, until a superior court decides otherwise.
He directed the Rivers State Revenue Service to ensure full and total implementation of the law against all corporate bodies and entities in the state
The Governor, furthermore, said the state will continue to project its constitutional rights to access all possible resources to advance the progress and well-being of the state.
