Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, says members of the All Progressives Congress, that defected to the People’s Democratic Party, are well known politicians in the state, compared to the two former commissioners that joined the APC.
Wike, stated this during a reception to welcome the defectors to the PDP, in Port Harcourt, on Saturday.
He said the defection of Hon. Davies Ikanya who was a founding member of the APC, and other political bigwigs, simply shows that the party is no more in the state.
“You can see the calibre of politicians we are receiving; we are receiving those who founded APC in Rivers State and those with political records. Today we have two former state chairmen of the APC, one was the founding chairman and the other was a caretaker chairman,” he said.
“Before today we already have Hon Allwell Onyesoh with us but we didn’t parade in him in public, we also have Hon Felix Nweke and Marcus Nle Egii, they’re all with us here. These are very known politicians in Rivers State and they returned with their supporters,” he added.
He commended the defectors for their bold step, as he called on others still in the APC to follow their footsteps, and join him in moving the state forward.
