Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been formally charged with multiple sexual offences by the Metropolitan Police, following an investigation spanning over two years.
In a statement released Friday, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed it had authorised the charges after receiving a file of evidence from police investigators.
“The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man after a file of evidence was submitted by detectives,” the CPS said. “The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Thomas Partey, 32 (13/06/1992), of Hertfordshire, in connection with the following offences: five counts of rape, one count of sexual assault.”
The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022. Partey’s contract with Arsenal officially ended earlier this week.
